My first triptych

By Mark Beresford | Comments 6

I made my first triptych today. A triptych is three images arranged in a panel. The idea goes back a long way in art history, and I remember seeing some originals from many centuries ago painted on wooden panels. Making a triptych, diptych, or similar arrangement is a way of adding additional interest to photos. There’s creativity in selecting the images to use and making them blend. Alternatively, a single panoramic image can be split into multiple images with gutters between them.

For this triptych, I used three early morning photos I took in Henry Coe State Park with a digital camera a couple of years ago. I didn’t spend much time on image processing or composition, I just wanted to try out the technique of building them in Photoshop. Click the image to open a larger version.
