We took a family field trip to the Dorothea Lange exhibit at the Oakland Museum of California today. It was a gorgeous day, and we had a tasty, relaxing lunch at the museum cafe. Dorothea’s most famous photo, Migrant Mother, is one of my favorite social documentary photos.
In the midst of all the troubles we’re experiencing in the US at the moment, the exhibit helped us remember how fortunate we are. This new migrant mother has never had to experience the squalor that the original one endured.
